The epidemic is being a big loss to the students, as the school and colleges are shut the studies of the students are suffering. Keeping this in mind, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will soon issue guidelines for the current and next academic session and pending examinations.
According to the panel made by UGC has suggested that the academic calendar should be started in the month of September instead of July. At the same time, the second panel has said that if it is possible for universities and colleges, they can conduct online examinations or after the lockdown is over, they can decide the dates of conducting the examination in the institute. Though the official statement is yet to come on the same.
2 committees have been formed by the UGC to look after academic loss and online education. Professor RC Kuhar, a former member of UGC and Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Haryana is included in the first committee. He was given the responsibility to look into the issues related to the exams and academic calendar.
A second committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Professor Nageswara Rao, Vice Chancer of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), which was asked to look into issues related to online education.
According to the report, the UGC is also considering conducting a common entrance test for all undergraduate courses. Due to the lockdown in the country due to the coronavirus epidemic, all the schools and colleges in the country are closed from the month of March.
