"Students' health and safety is of paramount importance and I do not support the offline conduct of exams amidst rising Covid cases", were the statements of Professor Mishra, who stated to speak to state government officials and make necessary arrangements for facilitating online exams if Covid cases do not subside. Along with this, he also stated to give students another chance to take the ongoing odd semester exams in case he/she tests positive for Covid-19 during the current exams.
It is noteworthy that thousands of students studying at AKTU had resorted to online campaigns, seeking to hold online exams. VC Mishra informed that soon after he was appointed as the Vice-chancellor of the university, he received numerous requests from students over phone in regard to conducting the exams online. Professor Mishra, who was earlier appointed as the VC of Jharkhand University of Technology, located in Ranchi, stated that he would not have commented on the subject if he were not appointed as the Vice-chancellor of AKTU. He also stated that the Jharkhand University of Technology is not equipped with a sound infrastructure as compared to AKTU, but still managed to conduct online exams for students.
During this, Professor Mishra also said that he is honored to be appointed as the Vice-chancellor of AKTU. Professor Mishra is a PhD holder in chemical engineering from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
