(i) Ministry of Tribal Affairs & Microsoft signed MoU
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs of India and Microsoft has signed an MoU pact to provide an AI curriculum to tribal students. The Artificial Curriculum will be made available in English and Hindi at the Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) and Ashram Schools across the country. The tech giant Microsoft has adopted 250 EMRS in the first phase of the programme.
About AI Curriculum - Students from schools under the ministry will be mentored on projects involving AI applications for societal good and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Further, they will be trained and exposed to gamified environments on Minecraft to help build design thinking skills.
(ii) Sputnik V to be Manufactured in India
The renowned Russian vaccine for COVID- 19, Sputnik V will now be manufactured in Dharwad, Karnataka. Dr Reddy’s will manufacture the vaccine at Dharwad-based Shilpa Biologicals Pvt Ltd. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shilpa Medicare. The company has signed a three-year definitive agreement with Dr Reddy’s to manufacture the vaccine. Shilpa Biologicals Pvt. Ltd. has planned to manufacture about 50 million doses in the first 12 months.
About Sputnik V - Sputnik V is an adenovirus viral vector vaccine developed by Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Russia.
(iii) Reliance Jio to Build Undersea Cable Network
Telecom operator Reliance Jio is constructing the largest international submarine cable system centred on India. Reliane Jio is working on the project with global partners and submarine cable supplier Subcom to cater to increased data demand. The undersea or submarine cable networks are used to connect several countries for flow of internet and telecom services.
About Undersea Cable Network - Reliance Jio will deploy two submarine cable systems. One will connect India with Asia Pacific markets through Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia and the other one with Italy, middle and north Africa region.
(iv) Commercial Quantum Computer
Google has announced to build a commercial quantum computer by the end of the decade. The computer will help in perform large-scale calculations without errors. At the Google I/O developer conference, the company quoted that Commercial Quantum Computer will have the potential to solve the hardest problems in technology. It will be much faster than the fastest supercomputers we have right now.
About Quantum Computer - While classical computers store information as zeros and ones (called bits), quantum computers use qubit (quantum bit), which can exist in both states at the same time. They are believed to be able to solve certain computational problems, such as integer factorization, substantially faster than classical computers.
(v) World's 1st Private Digital Court
The Chandigarh-based startup Jupitice Justice Technologies Pvt Ltd. has developed the world’s 1st end-to-end private digital court. The Private Justice System will help to resolve disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms. The private digital court is an Ultra-Advanced Digital Infrastructure & First Class Services and powered by a complete digital justice Eco-system, “As A Service Than A Place”. This has been formed to provide Arbitration, Conciliation & Mediation Services etc.
About Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) - ADR is a process of solving disputes without a court trial. The processes include mediation, arbitration, neutral evaluation, and collaborative law. ADR is usually less formal, less expensive, and less time-consuming than a trial.
