Many students, parents, and teachers always ask questions about “Which board is considered better for students? What is ICSI, CBSE or NIOS?” There are many types of a dilemma on this topic too.
Today in this article we will also confirm the important differences between the board as well as confirming the questions of the students:
First of all, we will understand some basic facts about the three boards:
The CBSE board is the only board of India that operates all the public and private schools at the national level.
This board is governed by the Indian government.
CBSE provides affiliation to all Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNV), Private Schools and most of the schools’ affiliation is approved by the Government of India.
In India, more than 19 thousand schools and 211 schools on in 25 foreign countries, are affiliated to CBSE.
CBSE conducts annual examinations (or board exams) for classes 10th and 12th standard every year and also announces results by the end of May.
Apart from board examinations for class 10th and 12th, CBSE also conducts some important competitive examinations like JEE Main, NEET, UGC Net etc. CBSE sets NCERT textbooks in its affiliated schools.
CBSE/ ICSE (Counseling for the Indian School Certificate Examination)
The Indian School Certificate Examination Council (CISCE) is a privately held national level board of school education in India.
It organizes the Indian School Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE or Class 10) and Indian School Certificate Examination (ISC or Class 12) and declares the results by the end of May.
Around 2,100 schools are affiliated to the CISCE in India and abroad.
The CISCE examination course is based on the curriculum of the Foreign Cambridge School Certificate Examination (United Kingdom).
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling):
NIOS is a national board that manages 10th and 12th exams of open schools similar to CBSE and CISCE/ ICSE.
The aim of NIOS is to increase literacy and provide education to the rural areas.
Public examinations are organized in the months of April-May and October-November.
Any student is eligible to appear for those subjects through the on-demand examinations at class 10th and 12th standard, in which the candidates have enrolled in NIOS for the subject-matter education.
The results of the public examination are declared after 6 weeks of the last date of examinations.
By now, you might have been convinced that the validity of the three boards is equal.
It does not matter whether a student has passed Class 10 and 12 from CBSE or CISCE or NIOS.
When the validity of all three boards mentioned above is equal, and then which board should be given priority?
The answer to this question depends on what kind of career you want to choose after class 12.
If a student is planning to appear for competitive examinations like JEE Main, NEET, then that student should choose CBSE board because the course of the Competitive Examination of JEE Main, NEET, and WBJEE etc. based on the CBSE board.
If a student is planning to attend IELTS or TOEFL, such as an English proficiency test, then the student should select the CISCE board, because the CISCE course is considered as a suitable course of India internationally.
If for some reason a student is unable to attend classes in any school, he can complete his schooling with NIOS.
In essence, all three boards (CBSE, NIOS, and CISCE) have the same beliefs and students can choose the board according to their needs and facilities.
