Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has set strict guidelines in the rules of changing the subject in class 10th and 12th standard. CBSE has urged all the schools running under its permit, to do not entertained change of the subject of any students on the basis that they will make arrangements for studies on their own. CBSE has released Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to deal with applications for changing the subject in the 10th, 12th class.
According to the board, class 10th and 12th are a two-year course. All schools should advise students to choose such subjects in the Class 9th and 11th; - Which the students can continue in the next class, &
- Which are available in the school.
PTI has quoted a Senior officer saying, “Several students want to change subjects when they move to class 10 and 12 on various grounds. As per revised norms, any request for change of subjects will be accepted provided such a request has been made before July 15 of the academic session. In order to streamline the process, the board has framed SOPs for the purpose,”
As per the revised rules of CBSE, the request to change the subject will be acceptable only when the request has been done during the academic session. To facilitate this process an SOP has been issued.
Also, the CBSE has instructed all the schools to collect the request and send them to CBSE's regional office. The Board has also asked schools not to deviate from the guidelines. The official said that if in some cases it is found that the school has not followed the instructions then the board will reject the request. The school will be responsible for this.
Documents Required to be Submitted With the Application
According to this, the students or guardians have to submit an official request with the documents supporting the reason behind it to change the subject.
After this, the school will check that the request for change of subject is authentic and what was the student's performance in the 9th and 11th grade. The schools also have to check whether the new subject is available and the subjects chosen are valid as per the official guidelines.
