Delhi University (DU) has issued the draft of the Undergraduate Curriculum Framework (UGCF-2022), which falls in line with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The recently released UGCF draft can be viewed on the official website of DU at du.ac.in. In this regard, DU has also invited suggestions from students, parents, academicians and recruiters among others, which has to be submitted in the online mode through a Google form by January 30 (11:59 pm).

As per the information mentioned in the draft, students pursuing a 4-year long undergraduate programme shall be awarded the Honours degree after the completion of their 8th semester. It must be noted that the students should have achieved at least 50% of the credits in the discipline. Thus, out of 176 credits, the candidate needs to score at least 88 credits.

UGCF 2022 has given the liberty to students to choose at least 4 elective papers from the disciplines other than the core discipline opted by them. In addition to this, UGCF 2022 does not support the hierarchy prevailing in the field of study/disciplines.

Introducing a major innovative step for research candidates who are willing to write a dissertation in the 7th and 8th semesters, the NEP-centered curricular has roped in a mandatory programme on research methodologies as one of the prominent elective courses. This elective course will be offered in the 6th and 7th semester. The newly implemented framework also provides the provision of multiple exits and re-entry to students at various stages of the Undergraduate programme, so that the students can accommodate their requirements and complete their studies along with their other priorities of life.

UGCF 2022 has been curated in such a way that promotes the holistic development of both academic and non-academic skills of students. Its objective is to hone students' creativity, critical thinking skills and fulfill other objectives as well.
