West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) Madhyamik and Uchhamadhyamik examinations has been cancelled for 2021. The announcement has been made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee through his official Twitter account. The detailed announced will be available on the official website of the WBBSE at wbbse.wb.gov.in.

The decision has been taken in view of the pandemic havoc caused by the second wave of COVID-19. The official tweet reads, "Thank you very much for sending us your valuable opinions and suggestions. GoWB thus arrives at the decision of cancelling Madhyamik/Uchhamadhyamik examinations for 2021. We will work out the best possible way to secure the future of our children."



Priro to this, the CM stated in a tweet that the children's future is our greatest priority. An expert committee to decide over holding the Class 10th & 12th board exams in 2021 was formed. Also the state government invited views & opinion from parents, general public, sector experts, civil society & students. The opinions and feedback was invited through mail by June 7th, 2021, 2 PM.
