As per the official notification released by UPSC, the recruitment examination is being held to fill 1012 vacant posts. Out of these 1012 posts, 861 are to be filled for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), while 151 are for the Indian Forest Services (IFS). Thus, candidates aspiring to appear in the exam can apply until February 22, 2022 by 6 pm.
UPSC Civil Services, IFS (Prelims) Exam 2022: Important Dates
- Opening of online application window: February 2, 2022.
- Application window closing date: February 22, 2022 (upto 6 pm).
- UPSC IAS, IFS Prelims Exam date: June 5, 2022.
- UPSC IAS, IFS 2022 Main Exam date: September 16, 2022.

UPSC Civil Services Exam 2022: Selection process
The selection process for filling the aforesaid posts encompasses 3 rounds, namely, Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Interview round. Detailed description about the same is provided below.
- Candidates who qualify the preliminary examination will be eligible to appear for the Mains Exam. After cracking the Mains exam, they will have to face the interview round/personality test round. A competent and unbiased board interviews the candidate.
- The candidate's social traits and his/her awareness about current affairs are assessed during the interview round. The board's objective is to analyze the personal aptness of the candidate.
- The medium of instruction for the interview round is quite flexible for the candidates, as translators will be present in the interview round. Hence, candidates have the liberty to give the interview in their preferred language.
