Calcutta University has rescheduled undergraduate examinations.
While the BSc Part I practicals (Hons) and BFAD (Bachelor in fashion and apparel designing) theory exams were scheduled to be held on August 28, 2018, the revised date will be announced shortly.
According to media reports, the exam date has been changed because August 28 is the foundation day of the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (student wing).
What did CU notification say?
Undergraduate examinations scheduled on 28.08.2018 have been deferred. The revised date will be announced shortly.
About BFAD course
The 3-year B.F.A.D.(Honours) Programme comprises minimum duration of six (06) consecutive semesters of six months each, i.e., three (3) years and starts in the month of July of each year.
A candidate prosecuting a regular course of study for three-year semester wise CBCS based BFAD (Honours) /General [ who will not be able to obtain 40% marks in aggregate but obtained 30% or above but below 40% aggregate marks in the said BFAD ( Hons) degree course shall obtain BFAD ( General ) Degree ] shall have to clear all semesters in all respect within a span of five years from the year of admission to the particular course and combination, failing which enrolment of the candidate shall stand cancelled.
Admission criteria
A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) in any stream/ combination from recognised Board of Examinationor its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1stsemesterof the six semesters3-year B F A D (Honours)Course of Studies under CBCS based course in this discipline.
Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational examination conducted by the West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission in 1st Semester B.F.A.D.(Honours) Course of Studies.
However, no candidate shall be allowed admission after a lapse of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
(Note: The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating five
years from the year of passing the previous qualifying Examination).
Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from the All India Boards/Councils (i.e. CBSE, ISC and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit Migration Certificate for getting Registration under this University.
Attendance
A student attending at least 75% of the total number of classes held shall be allowed to appear at the concerned Semester Examinations subject to fulfillment of other conditions laid down in the regulations.
A student attending at least 60% but less than 75% of the total number of classes held shall be allowed to appear at the concerned Semester Examinations subject.
A student attending less than 60% of the total number of classes held shall not be allowed to appear at the concerned Semester Examinations and he /she has to pursue admission to the same semester in the very next year for attending the classes and appearing at the said Semester Examination.
Such attendance will be calculated from the date of commencement of classes or date of admission, whichever is later.
