DU is likely to Announce Entrance Test for Admissions in 2019 for all the Courses
DU
From the next 2019-20 academic session, a major change in the admission system of Delhi University (DU) is expected. DU is looking into enrolling on the basis of entrance exam for all Undergraduate courses. The weightage will be set for the marks of the 12th class i.e. now candidates will be admitted on the basis of class 12 marks. Details related to the entrance examination have not arrived yet but it is believed that DU is considering implementing this from the 2019 Admission Session.

DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi told Times of India, "The admission committee of the DU will consider the matter of implementing the system of entrance examination in the admission process of 2019-20. This committee is an independent committee, which includes education specialists, principal and faculty members of colleges.”

NTA can get the responsibility
The DU admissions committee had also discussed last year on this issue but could not reach any conclusions. One reason for the plan to put the plan in the cold storage was that there were many problems related to organizing the entrance test on one side and on the other hand the faculty members of the admissions committee also opposed it.

The committee is looking at outsourcing the National Testing Agency (NTA) to the entrance examination this year. The NTA has taken responsibility for the NET and JEE examination this year. Earlier these examinations were organized by the CBSE. When asked if the university can look at the role of NTA in organizing the examination, he said that the admissions committee will also consider this possibility.

Current system
At present, most of the DU's Undergraduate courses are based on the class 12th marks. Each year, many cut off lists are released, then students get admission on its basis. Computer Based Entrance Examination is organized in DU for nine Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes only.
