Defence Minister of India, Rajnath Singh announced the government's decision to lay 100 new Sainik schools across the country. He said that the initiative is aimed at paving the way for the girl students to join the Armed Forces of the country and contribute to the nation's security. He continued his statements by saying that the government is looking forward to incorporating more women in the Indian Armed Forces and are also persevering in their efforts to meet the same. Under the same initiative, the government has decided to set up new Sainik Schools and provide permanent commissions to female officers as well.

He then opined that the establishment of New Sainik Schools for women will motivate and encourage them to serve the country. He stated that this step will give rise to healthy competition among schools and facilitate the coining of innovative steps. "Patriotism and devotion towards nature must be instilled in children in order to build their character and benefit the country."

Minister Singh went on to inform that the Union Cabinet, in October, had approved the affiliation of 100 schools in private and government sectors, commencing from academic year 2022-23, as per which, the Sainik Schools will fall under the Ministry of Defence. "Quality education is listed at fourth place among the 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations. Several other goals need to be achieved for quality education, achieving which is our strong political commitment", Minister Singh stated.

Towards the end, Singh underscored the need for revolution in the education sector and development of children in a holistic manner. He thereafter said that the needful can only be achieved with a strong collaboration in defence, education and private sector.
